Something not working? Let's fix it

Most problems are solved on the first call. Try the checks below if you like, but you never have to earn the right to speak to an engineer — the hotline is open right now.

Troubleshooting

Four checks that solve most problems

Run through these before calling and you will often find the answer — or at least be able to tell us exactly what is wrong.

1No internet at all

  1. 1Check the ONU/media converter — the PON or LOS light should be solid green, not red or blinking.
  2. 2Power-cycle the ONU and router: unplug both, wait 30 seconds, plug the ONU back first.
  3. 3Connect a laptop directly to the ONU with a LAN cable to rule out the router.
  4. 4Inspect the fiber cable for sharp bends or visible damage near the wall entry.
  5. 5Still down? Call the hotline — quote your client ID and we will check the port remotely.

2Internet is slow

  1. 1Run a speed test on a wired laptop first — Wi-Fi is usually the bottleneck, not the line.
  2. 2Test against a BDIX server and an international server separately; the numbers should differ.
  3. 3Check how many devices are active, and whether a download or backup is running.
  4. 4Move to the 5 GHz band if your router supports it, and away from thick walls.
  5. 5If wired BDIX speed is well below your package, call us — that is a network issue, not a Wi-Fi one.

3Wi-Fi keeps dropping

  1. 1Note whether it drops on all devices at once, or only one — the latter is a device issue.
  2. 2Change the Wi-Fi channel; crowded 2.4 GHz channels are the most common cause in flats.
  3. 3Update your router's firmware, or ask us to do it if it is a managed unit.
  4. 4Check the router is not sitting on top of the ONU or a TV — heat causes instability.
  5. 5For large homes, ask us about a mesh or a second access point rather than a stronger router.

4High latency while gaming

  1. 1Play wired if at all possible — Wi-Fi adds jitter that no package can fix.
  2. 2Check ping to a local BDIX target versus the game server; separate the two problems.
  3. 3Close background uploads: cloud sync and CCTV backups both hurt latency badly.
  4. 4Ask us to check for CGNAT issues; a static real IP resolves some game-server problems.
  5. 5Report the exact game and server region when you call, so we can trace the right path.

Every question we get asked

Our fiber footprint spans Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal, Rangpur and Mymensingh, with nationwide reach for corporate data circuits. Availability depends on your exact address, so run the coverage check or call our hotline and we will confirm within minutes.

Where fiber already passes your building, activation typically completes within 24 to 48 hours of your application being approved. If new drop cable or a splice is needed, our survey team gives you a firm date — usually inside five working days.

The installation charge depends on your package and the drop-fiber distance, and is confirmed in writing after the free site survey — before you commit to anything. It covers the drop fiber, optical terminal, splicing and configuration.

Yes. There is no fair usage policy, no data cap and no post-quota throttling on any ICON home package. Your advertised speed is what you get, at every hour of the day.

You can bring your own router, buy one from us at cost, or take a managed dual-band unit bundled into your monthly bill. Managed routers are configured, firmware-maintained and replaced free of charge if they fail.

Yes. A static real IP is available on any home package for BDT 299 per month, and is included on SME and corporate plans. Larger /29 and /28 blocks are available for businesses that need them.

Pay through bKash, Nagad, Rocket, any Visa or Mastercard, internet banking, or a direct bank deposit. You can also pay in the ICON self-care portal, which stores your invoice history and payment receipts.

Anytime. Upgrades apply immediately with the difference pro-rated onto your current invoice. Downgrades take effect from your next billing cycle, and neither carries a change fee.

Call 09644 444 444 at any hour and you will reach an engineer, not a queue. Most faults are resolved remotely in minutes; if a site visit is needed, our field team is dispatched the same day at no charge.

Yes. Give us a few days' notice and we will shift your connection for a BDT 1,000 relocation fee, provided the new address is inside our coverage area. Your package and billing cycle carry over unchanged.

Policies

Terms, privacy and acceptable use

Service terms. Packages are billed monthly in advance on approved BTRC tariffs. There is no minimum contract period on home packages, and no penalty for cancellation — you simply settle the current cycle and return any managed equipment.

Privacy. We collect only the information needed to provision, support and bill your connection. We do not sell customer data to third parties. Traffic logs are retained solely as required by our licence conditions.

Acceptable use. The connection may not be used to attack or gain unauthorised access to other systems, to send unsolicited bulk mail, to resell bandwidth without written agreement, or for any activity unlawful under Bangladeshi law.

Fair service. There is no fair usage policy or data cap on home packages. We do apply network-level protections against attack traffic, and we may temporarily restrict a connection that is compromised — after trying to reach you first.
